Girls Aloud’s You Freak Me Out Gets a Freakier Friday Makeover from Joe Goddard

Back in 2003, Girls Aloud’s You Freak Me Out played over the end credits of Disney’s original Freaky Friday, the cult hit where Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis swapped lives, wardrobes and just about everything else.

Now, 22 years later, the chaos is back. Freakier Friday is in cinemas, with Lohan and Curtis reprising their roles, and Girls Aloud returning to the soundtrack. This time, they’ve called in Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard to reimagine the song for a new era.

“It was so much fun being part of Freaky Friday the first time round,” the band say. “When we heard Jamie & Lindsay were returning for the sequel, we had to get involved too. Joe Goddard has done a brilliant remix of You Freak Me Out which is now dancefloor ready. We hope you love it.”

Known for his work with Hot Chip, The 2 Bears, and an impressive list of collaborations and remixes, Goddard brings his signature mix of bass-driven energy and euphoric rhythm to the track. His swirling, club-ready production keeps the cheeky charm of the original while giving it a fresh, late-night pulse. “It was super fun remixing Girls Aloud in a freaky fashion,” he says.

You Freak Me Out (Joe Goddard Freakier Friday 2025 Remix) dropped on 8 August via Universal Music and is streaming now. Whether you’re reliving the 2003 nostalgia or diving in for the first time, this is one to get stuck on repeat.

About Joe Goddard and Hot Chip

Joe Goddard has spent over two decades at the heart of the UK’s electronic music scene. As a founding member of Hot Chip, he’s helped craft genre-defying hits like Over and Over, Ready for the Floor, and Boy from School, blending house, synth-pop, and indie with infectious ease. Alongside Hot Chip, he’s also one half of The 2 Bears, part of HARD FEELINGS, and a prolific solo artist, DJ, and producer.

He’s also co-written for Katy Perry and collaborated with artists from Peter Gabriel to Jarvis Cocker. That deep well of experience is exactly what he’s poured into this Freakier Friday remix, keeping the heart of Girls Aloud’s original while dialling up the club energy.
