British Irish girl group Girls Aloud first emerged on the reality television show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, formed of Cheryl (previously known as Tweedy/Cole), Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh.
Their debut track, ‘Sound of the Underground’, topped the UK Singles Chart and began their domination of the British pop scene. Over the next decade, they released five studio albums, achieved 21 UK Top 10 singles, and earned multiple awards, including a BRIT Award for ‘The Promise’ in 2009. Girls Aloud were known for their close collaboration with the production team Xenomania, which helped craft their distinctive sound.
In 2013, the group disbanded, with each member pursuing individual music, acting, and television projects. Tragically, Sarah passed away in 2021 after a battle with cancer. To honour the late singer, the remaining members of Girls Aloud briefly reunited in 2024 for a special worldwide arena tour, The Girls Aloud Show.
