AO Arena Manchester
AO Arena is a major indoor venue located in the heart of Manchester. The arena opened in 1995 as NYNEX Arena, later becoming Manchester Evening News Arena, Phones 4u Arena, Manchester Arena, and since 2020, AO Arena.
It was originally constructed as part of Manchester’s bids to host the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games and was later used for the 2002 Commonwealth Games. In 2001, it was ranked as the busiest indoor arena in the world and continues to attract major tours, sporting events and live broadcasts.
Following a major redevelopment completed in 2024, AO Arena now has a capacity of up to 23,000, the largest of any indoor venue in the UK. Its programme spans live music, comedy, sport and large-scale entertainment events, welcoming over one million visitors each year.
