Our Sustainability Efforts

At On Air, we understand that reducing the impact of music production and streaming on the planet is essential. That’s why we always take an environmentally conscious approach towards our work with clients, partners, and fans, taking those critical steps to make our live concert streams net zero in the near future.

So, what exactly are we doing to help keep the earth green?

We Plant Trees

We’re proud partners with the 501(c)(3) non-profit global reforestation organisation One Tree Planted (OTP), who plant millions of trees each year to help restore nature and biodiversity. To help aid their incredible work worldwide, we plant a tree for every participating live concert stream purchased through the On Air website, mobile, and TV apps. Simple!

One Tree Planted is a force to behold, working with 378 partners across 82 countries in North America, Latin America, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Pacific. Since 2014, they’ve planted 135.5 million trees, which continues to double yearly.

Production Footprint, Step-by-Step

We’re committed to bringing the energy of live music to fans at home with as little environmental damage impact as possible. Therefore, our team constantly looks for new ways to be sustainable at events and make informed decisions from pre-production to post-production. These include:

Remote Production

On Air minimises the number of on-site production staff without impacting the show’s quality. Where possible, we produce shows entirely remotely, with no unnecessary travel. In the event this isn’t possible, we have built a network of local teams worldwide and always opt to work with regional partners where it is practical to reduce travel.

Minimal Equipment

Where possible, our productions are recorded without outside broadcasting vans, allowing us to reduce the typical size of an on-site technical crew by 30%.

Lower Power Consumption

We use LED lighting to ensure content has the best shine possible, saving 75% on energy compared to incandescent lighting fixtures. Our in-house production techniques also reduce power consumption by 60% compared to an outside broadcasting van.

Dolby x On Air

We’re thrilled that our partners at Dolby Laboratories are equally committed to reaching net zero by 2030. Their technologies, such as Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, comply with the European RoHS Directive, REACH Regulation, and EU WEEE Directive requirements. Better yet, Dolby is applied to most of our shows, meaning you can stream guilt-free!
