Journey

About Journey

Journey emerged in the 70s Rock & Roll era, formed in San Fransisco by lead vocalist/guitarist Neal Schon, bassist Ross Valory, vocalist Steve Perry, rhythm guitarist George Tickner, keyboardist/vocalist Gregg Rolie, and drummer Prairie Prince. The progressive rock collective reached commercial success between 1978 and 1987, including the release of their redefined album ‘Infinity’ and the powerful banger ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ (1981). The signature single reached the Top 10 worldwide, becoming the best-selling digital track from the twentieth century with over seven million downloads.

Journey’s seventh album ‘Escape’ reached number one on the Billboard 200 and spawned another popular song ‘Open Arms’ – making it their most successful release. The 1983 follow-up album ‘Frontiers’ reached number two in the US but widened the band’s net to the United Kingdom, reaching number six on the UK Albums Chart.

The band separated in 1987, reunited in the mid-1990s, and regrouped twice, first with Steve Augeri from 1998 – 2006, then with Arnel Pineda from 2007 onwards.

Journey’s time in the spotlight has resulted in 25x gold and 25x platinum albums, in addition to their 18x platinum diamond-certified ‘Greatest Hits’. After 19 Top 40 singles in the US and over 100 million records sold globally, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
