Gary Moore was a Northern Irish musician best known for performing in various bands and producing music that covered blues, hard rock, heavy metal, and jazz fusion.
Influenced by Peter Green and Eric Clapton, Moore began his music career in the late 1960s with the band Skid Row. The collective released two albums, ‘Skid’ and ‘34 Hours’, before the guitarist left to join the iconic rock group Thin Lizzy.
Following his stint with the bands, Moore launched his solo career in 1970 and achieved success with his signature hit single ‘Parisienne Walkways’. Throughout the 1980s, he transitioned into hard rock and heavy metal, breaking international ice with ‘Run for Cover’ and ‘Wild Frontier’, before returning to his blues roots with ‘Still Got the Blues’. The album was his most successful commercially, although he continued to release new music until he died in 2011.
Moore was often described as a virtuoso and later voted one of the greatest guitarists of all time on respective lists by Total Guitar and Louder.
